Originally a Latvian Mark I - German forces captured 13 Glads in the USSR,
it was operated by Ergnzungsgruppe (S) 1 at Langendiebach near
Hanau during 1942 and 43 (transl. Supplementary Group 1).
The group provided training for pilots who were to operate cargo and
assault gliders such as the DFS 230. The glider tugs operated by ths unit
included the Arado Ar 65, Heinkel He 45, Avia B.234, Letov S.328 and the
Gloster Gladiator. So (S) should mean "Schlepp" = tug. Pilot was Uffz. Heinz
Wolski; Werknummer 45829 crashed on April 15th 1942, was damaged to
80% and subsequently scrapped.
